Sept-06: Customer Appreciation Day

Jim Spohrer at ECAD06The 2006 Customer Appreciation Day let us connect with our growing community of customers, partners and colleagues. As intended, our community once again provided us with tremendous feedback about how we can best serve their needs: it was filled with informative discussion, plenty of networking, good food and even some fun activities for the afternoon including wine tours and spa visits for our guests.

Luke took some time after breakfast to review how the firm had grown during 2006, summarizing our successes, occasional disappointments, and plans for the future. Afterwards, we spent time playing an Innovation Game® to make sure we had a structured yet fun way for our customers to let us know how best to move forward for the next year – 20/20 Vision captured clear messages about what our customers need from us to make them even more successful.

Our guest speaker was Mr. Jim Spohrer, with a presentation “From Computer Science to Service Science.” As the Director of Services Research at IBM’s Almaden Research Center, Mr. Spohrer’s role gives him the opportunity to really study the trends that shape this critical aspect of the global economy. Jim included several fascinating statistics about the recent growth of services revenue across world as well as the financial performance (or lack thereof) that many companies are achieving. He also discussed important initiatives by the community including, corporations, academia and government to ensure that society is prepared to effectively participate in this changing economy. To thank Jim for his time, Enthiosys made a donation on his behalf to Kiva, a non-profit organization that Jim supports.
