Sept-05: Customer Appreciation Day

Our first Customer Appreciation Day was an opportunity to thank Enthiosys clients and give them more ways to shape the future of the firm. Luke Hohmann introduced our attendees (customers, partners, and advisors) and summarized the year’s milestones.

Don Nielson at ECAD05To celebrate innovation, we asked Don Nielson, recently retired Vice President of SRI International and author of “A Heritage of Innovation: SRI’s First Half Century”, to give a presentation on his new book and his lifelong association with innovation at SRI. Mr. Nielson gave a fascinating talk on the history of SRI International, rlandmark projects, and its culture of excellence. His description of the character traits required for innovation in a research context are just as relevant to the corporate environments of Enthiosys clients.

Mr. Nielson’s presentation also included video from SRI’s historic demo of interactive computing from the 1968 Fall Joint Computer Conference in San Francisco. It was here that Douglas Engelbart introduced the computer mouse, a graphical user interface, display editing and integrated text and graphics, hyper-documents, and two-way video-conferencing with shared workspaces. (Through Mr. Nielson’s generosity, we are able to share this presentation and historic films. The videos start on slide nine. FYI, the presentation is generated from PowerPoint and the FJCC event videos are WMV-format files, so they are best viewed with Internet Explorer).

After lunch, we played two Innovation Games®: Speed Boat and Give Them A Hot Tub. The feedback we gathered provided valuable insights into how to refine our services.
