“Remember the Future” in Recruiting

Remember the Future is an Innovation Game® that enables to generate a rich and detailed understanding of what “success” looks like for products and services. But it can be used for more than just products and services. Over the years we’ve used Remember the Future to assist in strategic planning, marketing messages, the design of products and services, helping clients plan more effective projects, and portfolio management. The game has other uses as well. Jared Spool, from User Interface Engineering, uses the technique remarkable well in this recruiting post. You might want to consider leveraging this approach to help you write a richer, more descriptive job description when hiring your next product manager.

Amazing, Top-Quality Product Manager

Fast Forward One Year…

We’d like to thank you for doing a fantastic job managing our UIE Virtual Seminar program during this past year. You doubled the number of these online webinars over last year, carefully researching out the best presenters for important design and user experience topics and put together a rolling four-month schedule so our clients can plan with their team.

For each seminar, you worked with the presenter to create the title and session copy, coordinated with the web site designer to place the copy on the site, sent out promotional emails, and ensured each seminar was promoted in all the right calendars.

In addition, you did the impossible: increasing the attendance of each seminar by 50%. You reviewed our past marketing efforts and interviewed customers to understand the value and benefits delivered by our Virtual Seminars. You then revised the marketing messages and made program changes to increase both reach and repeat attendance.

You also reviewed the library of recorded Virtual Seminars we’ve collected and created our eLearning Center, where clients can watch past seminars on-demand. Your efforts to design and market the eLearning Center’s web site created a strategically important revenue stream for the company. Your constant attention and adjustments to our marketing approach continue to prove successful.

To top it all off, you conducted a thorough review of our overall marketing program, looking to see how to expand our reach and increase cross-product sales. You’ve just launched a new subscription program and have added several important marketing channels, to make more potential customers aware of our offerings.

Everyone in the company would like to thank you for your dedication. We can’t wait until next year.
